PEOPLE, CALCULATIONS AND SOURCES
About the project
Fakt počasí is an independent Czech project. It brings together forecasts for Czechia, radar, warnings and the sky to help you plan your day around the weather.
Who is behind it
Michaela Dvořáková, CEO, is behind Fakt počasí.
No ads, with your location stored in your browser
The website has no advertising blocks. Only your browser remembers your selected location. We send coordinates to our server to load the forecast; we do not use them to create a user profile.
We measure visits anonymously, without cookies, using Umami on our own server.
What we calculate ourselves
The weather forecast uses model data downloaded directly from DWD (ICON-D2 and ICON-EU) and ECMWF (IFS). These organisations calculate the weather models; we assemble their available outputs into a forecast for your selected location and derive further weather information from them. When suitable data are missing, the affected information or forecast is not shown.
We derive a short-term precipitation outlook from the motion in radar images. This is extrapolation, not a future radar observation.
We calculate the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets for the selected place and time. Stars come from a catalogue. The aurora outlook combines space weather forecasts from the US agency NOAA with astronomical darkness and modelled cloud cover; it does not promise a sighting.
